The Garden offers a wealth of opportunity for open-air exhibitions and activities both permanent and temporary.

Our Visual arts workshops (digital photography, watercolours) & horticultural masterclasses are popular and of course, the setting is truly inspirational. In addition, ‘Art in the Garden’ takes place over long weekend in may of each year.

Specially commissioned art works and installations throughout the Garden include:

Foxgloves by Morag Cumming

foxgloves-morag-cummingCommissioned and presented by the Heart of Scotland Herb Society, Foxgloves was created by local artist Morag Cummming.

Nestled on the bank beyond the entrance this piece of work expresses the serenity of the woodland garden.

'We allow the pink foxgloves to grow naturally in the Garden as it is a British native (and a plant is a weed only when it is in the wrong place!)'.

Plant Hunters

Hunters History

The Plant Hunters were not just botanists, they were adventurers and explorers. They had to be tough to survive the conditions they faced in far-flung corners of the world. They survived shipwrecks, sieges and slavery and battled with pirates, escaped convicts and hostile natives.
