Moscow Ballet - The Nutcracker!
The Nutcracker Suite is regarded as one of the jewels of classical ballet, a timeless tale of childhood dreams where toys come to life, mice are the villains, and all things are possible in a magical kingdom beyond imagination.

 

Performed in two acts, it was originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov for the Paris Opéra from a libretto by Marius Petipa and set to music by Tchaikovsky. World renowned soloists Nadejda Ivanova, Ekaterina Shalyapina, Andrey Lyapin, and Andrey Shalin will lead this fabulous production under the direction of Elik Melikov.

Moscow Ballet draws upon the wealth of talent and traditional of Russian dancers and choreographers from the leading theatres of the CIS Countries and the Bolshoi, Kirov and Ballet Theatres of Kiev and Odessa.

Always a sell out, this much loved and enjoyable dance-spectacular is perfect for ballet lovers of all ages. The matinee performance begins 2pm and Evening performance begins at 7.30pm, on Saturday 14th November.

Nutcracker synopsis

Is the dream for real...or is it just a fairy tale? This delightful production of the much-loved Nutcracker captures the imagination with the passion, humour and magic of the ballet.

All is quiet in the great house…Clara creeps downstairs...the Christmas Tree stands alone…in the darkness, through the curtains, the moonlight beams onto the colourful presents offered there.

It’s midnight, the clock strikes heralding in the spirit of Christmas…yet something stirs in the darkness beyond and thus unfolds this magical festive tale of The Nutcracker.
